Exercise 11 Read and translate into Ukrainian

Today, all information and (1)media world-wide is being changed for (2)digital storage, in bits and bytes. This will make it easier and faster (3)to access, and enable the (4)transmission of multimedia information – sound, pictures and (7)full motion video as well as text – (5)simultaneously.Multimedia is commonly used in (6)softwaresuch as computer games and electronic encyclopedias in education.

For example, compared to vinyl records and cassette tapes, compact disks (CDS) (8)storemusic as a combination of ones and zeros. The telephone system (9)is also convertingto digital technology so that it can carry voice and data down the same telephone lines. And radio and television are switching to digital transmission so as to offer more interactive multimedia (11)services to (10)consumers.

Interactive media means (12)two-way communication – the user can influence what happens on the screen. For example, in Sega and Nintendo games, the player can give instructions that change the course of the game, or when watching sport, the viewer can ask for instant replays of events.
