Brazil – Russia Dialogue: Economic Policy Challenges
26 - 27 June, 2012,Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in cooperation with School of Public Finance Administration, Ministry of Finance of Brazil (ESAF) will hold an international policy workshop «Brazil – Russia Dialogue: Economic Policy Challenges».The event will take place at Moscow Campus of RANEPA.
The main aim of the workshop is to discuss and formulate lessons learnt from economic and budgetary policies implementation and evaluation in Brazil and Russia and identify challenges and strategic options in managing economic growth relevant for the governments of the two countries and beyond.
The discussion will bring together a wide range of experts. Participants of the event are:
· Russian policy-makers and analysts in economic and budget regulation: from Government Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian Service for Financial Markets Regulation, Russian Accounts Chamber (Supreme Audit Institution).
· Expert community: Moscow-based think-tanks (CSR, Latin America Institute RAS, IMEMO), economic universities, the World Bank office.
· Representatives of Moscow-based embassies of Brazil, China, India, other interested countries
· Experts from RANEPA and ESAF on economic and budgetary policy.

Background:
Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and School of Public Finance Administration (ESAF, Escola de Administração Fazendária) under the Ministry of Finance of Brazil are launching a series on joint knowledge-sharing workshops aimed at building an informed dialogue between policy-makers and expert communities of Brazil and Russia on economic and budgetary policy management in the two countries. Both schools believe that sharing expertise will help improve policies, reduce poverty and achieve sustainable growth in large emerging market economies in the longer term. This seminar is the ground mark of bilateral cooperation and will be followed by a series of other joint ESAF – RANEPA events. Gaidar Institute of Economic Policy will contribute to the workshop preparation and delivery.
