Present Simple Tense используется для передачи:

регулярного, повторяющегося действия. Используется со следующими временными маркерами: always, usually, often, generally, seldom, sometimes, never, every day / week / month / year, etc; on Mondays, Tuesdays, in the morning, evening, at night, at the weekend	The Browns go to the seaside every summer.
фактов, непреложных истин, законов природы	The Earth rotates around the sun.
в расписании поездов, автобусов	The train leaves at 10.

Past Simple Tense употребляется для передачи:

действия, которое произошло в прошлом. Временными маркерами прошедшего времени являются выражения: yesterday, last week / month / year; last summer / winter / autumn; two days ago, a month ago и т.д.	They spent their holidays in Switzerland last winter. We had a great time yesterday.
последовательности действий в прошлом	First, he read his message. Then he called his friends.
действий, которые неоднократно повторялись в прошлом	As a rule, she watched TV before going to bed every night.
