San Francisco Short Film Festival

Rules and Regulations:

Every film up to 30 minutes long can register in the SAN FRANCISCO SHORT FILM FESTIVAL.

No work or artist will be either discriminated or favored by their country of origin, language, age, race, education, ideology, or by their economic resources. Every content, every form, every technique will be admitted with no censorship of any kind.

The films will be received in its original language. English subtitles are required if its language is other than English.

For equality of opportunities, whichever the original format (film, analogical video, digital video, animation), all the films will be evaluated in the same standard digital format.

Films may be uploaded by Internet or a DVD can be sent by regular mail to the technical provider address.
Digital Format: you can upload the film following our technical guidelines, directly in the screening format, or in other accepted digital formats, including DVD.
If necessary, the technical provider of the Annual Program Without Frontiers will process the movies for converting them to the screening format.

Every film will be displayed for the Committee of Art and the Jury of the Festival.
The producer, director or responsible for the film will have the option to authorize or not the public online screening of that film. Non public films have the same rights and opportunities for Selection and Awards, although they will not be screened for the festival's audience.

The Committee of Art of the Program will see the films for selection purposes. The Committee of Art can also determine Special Mentions.

The Jury of the Festival will award the following Categories: Screenplay, Direction, Actor and Actress Performances, Art, Photography, Editing, and Integral Realization. In addition to the Prizes by Category, the Jury will grant the Special Prize to the Best Short Film.

The Awards will be announced by Internet and distributed by International Press Media.

The films included in the Official Selection will be screened online at the Festival's site, only with the exception of non-authorized ones.

The Committee of Art reserves the right to select and to invite any of the films registered, to the Annual Gala Ceremony or other events and media.

Announcement of the Awards is scheduled for June 30th, 2011. In order to participate in the Festival, films bear an entry fee of USD 20.
The late deadline for registration is March 31st.

Participation in the SAN FRANCISCO SHORT FILM FESTIVAL implies the acceptance of these Rules and Regulations.

Open submissions

Deadline for receipt of online submission forms and screeners:

• Short films (40 mins or less) - 22 June
• Feature length films (more than 40 mins) - 6 July

Please fill in the required fields through the online submission form if you wish to submit your film for consideration, and for international features and shorts please complete the PayPal form which you will be directed to from the online submission form.

(Please note international features and shorts will not be considered without completed payment confirmation and completion of the correct online form).

Fees

The fee forInternational features is £45 including VAT.

The fee for International shorts is £15 including VAT.

Packages post (or courier) marked on or before the deadline will be accepted.

On completion of your online submission (and completion of payment for International submissions), you will be emailed a confirmation email. Please include this with a DVD copy of the film plus a synopsis as soon as possible, and your PayPal receipt for international submissions. Please ensure the following information is included when you send your screener:

• Online submission confirmation email
• PayPal receipt for international features
• English Title / Original Title
• Director's name
• Country of Production
• Running Time
• Full contact detailsincluding postal address, telephone numberand email address.

Viewing

For viewing purposes we accept any region DVD. Please ensure there is sufficient postage when sending submissions as we will be unable to retrieve any package with insufficient postage. Viewing material should be insured by the sender and sent via airmail or courier (at the sender's expense) to the address sent to you on your confirmation email.

If you do not have a DVD and would like to submit your film in another format please contact us. Under certain circumstances and by prior arrangement we can also view Beta SP and DigiBeta (Pal or NTSC) and work on 35mm.

If you would like to submit an online screening link for your film, please contact us directly. While some of our programming team are happy to view online, we would prefer to receive DVD screener submissions.

The programme is finalised between July and September. You will hear from us by mid September at the latest, normally by email. If your contact details change during this period please let us know so that we may update our records.

Please complete one form per film you wish to submit and ensure that all the required fields (marked with an *) are completed. Once the form and payment are completed, you will receive an email confirmation with details of where to send your DVD screener, and a PayPal receipt. Please include these with your submission(s). If you do not receive these confirmations, please email [email protected] as soon as possible.
