Note: Crowley, "The Ghouls is prose, save for one short song, and ranges from the loftiest sublimity to dialect and slang." The Poetry Review wrote that this piece "is possibly the most ghastly death-dance in English literature. If Oscar Wilde had written it everyone would know it. It is the very pith and marrow of terror. " In response Crowley wrote, "This criticism (from the Poetry Review) fills me with honest pride."
GIANT'S THUMB, THE, Dedicated to Theodore Reuss
"By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes."

Note: This book was originally compiled in NY around 1915 but was never published. The page proofs survive, annotated throughout by Crowley. The First Impressions edition reproduces the original including AC's handwritten notes.
