Does the band have a favorite song to cover?

First, give us a little background on Delorian Domain?

Basically, Delorian Domain was founded in Murmansk (Russia), 2009 by the leader Eugene Nikitinsky on basis of the band Fall From Heaven. After numerous lineup alteration the band members finally got stable - Polina Larsen (vocal, lyrics), Andrew Medvedev (vocals, back vocals), Silent Rhombus (lead guitar), Eugene Nikitinsky (rhythm guitar, managing), Juny (bass), Eugenia Madison (drums), 13 Luck (samples, synthesizers).

When one year and a half of joint work had passed, guys made a decision to upgrade the music, style and image. In summer 2011 the band was renamed to “Delorian Domain” right simultaneously with the debut video release on 27th of September. The music has changed dramatically as soon as the male extreme vocal and post-hardcore tendency inspired the band. The first Delorian Domain single “Idol” drew attention to us. In April 2012 we have released the first EP album which got favorable reviews from Russian and foreign audience.

For those who may not know, what type of band is Delorian Domain?

Delorian Domain now is a hard-trancecore metal band from north-west Europe with contemporary sound, progressive tendency and unique style. The individuality is about mixing modern post-hardcore, electronics and rock'n'roll oldschool drive!

Not many people may know this but the band did not start out being called Delorian Domain. Can you touch on that?

Yeah, as it was mentioned above, we went through some changes. The first name “Fall from heaven” appeared while we was in the very beginning of the music road and didn’t know exactly what we are. As soon as the idea came we made a decision to rename.

How did you come to the name Delorian Domain?

Well, we’ve got it spontaneously... That was pretty long time while we were thinking over and then one of us watched the movie “Back to the Future” when the car DeLorean starred. That’s what inspired us!

Where do you all draw your influences from?

Honestly, such bands as Enter Shikari and Atack!Atack! affected us a lot in the beginning, also we drew influences from alternative\metal\industrial bands from 1990th. What about present time we try not to be comparable to anything, so the inspiration comes mostly from the inside.

What is your outlook on the current situation within the music industry?

To begin with… there are lots of soulless commercial clones in music today who follow their adepts copying even scene behavior. That’s sad and makes think that musicians suffer a lack of inspiration and self expression. However borders of music styles are blending nowadays, people don’t get themselves in strict frames and are not afraid to experiment. That has positive influence with music in the whole, as we see it!

What comes first the lyrics or the music?

Mostly music comes first. Personally I consider music as the most important part of a track. There’s nothing music cannot express and we don’t even need to understand the lyrics, do we?

Who writes the lyrics in the band? What do the lyrics usually deal with?

Usually Polina Larsen writes the lyrics and parts for herself and helps Andrew with translations of ideas about his own vocal parts.

The songs are different, so is lyrics’ ideology. We tell the audience about our attitude to the society and its values, try to point some questions for those who are ready to ask themselves “Who am I? Do I do things right?”. But of course we got some light-minded songs just for fun!

Despite the words which are rude sometimes, our message to people is always positive, motivating and cheerful.

Does the band have a favorite song to cover?

Actually we don’t play cover songs much… Now it’s a very busy time with our own material, plans and projects. At the same time we enjoy playing covers “Destabilize” and “Mothership” on Enter Shikari. Eugene Nikitinsky and Silent Rhombus keep something on mind about possible cover songs, but we will work on it later.
