Introduction
This guide tells you some of the things you should know so that you can have a successful and enjoyable time as a postgraduate student of publishing at Moscow State University of Printing Arts.
The programme MA in publishing has been developed by the Russian-British academic team that represents two leading universities in the area of publishing curriculum: Moscow State University of Printing Arts (www.mgup.ru ) and Oxford Brookes University (www.brookes.ac.uk) under BRIDGE project.
The Guide contains information about the programme that will be useful and/or essential to you during your time over the next year. Keep it safe so that you can refer to the information in this handbook while you are a postgraduate student on the Dual Degree in Publishing Programme.
The Guide supplements information contained in the various documents about MSUPA and Oxford Brookes University available from the programme administration, and from both the School and Brookes web sites.
This document should be used alongside the module descriptions which are available as a separate document, and the module documentation which is distributed at the start of each module.
Before taking up your place at MSUPA you will have received various other documents containing important information about MSUPA and its facilities and will have completed a number of forms relating to accommodation, fees, and enrolment.
Bridge project and partner universities
In July 2003, the Secretary of State for Education and Training and the Minister of Education for the Russian Federation, signed a statement of intent on ‘Russian – United Kingdom Partnerships in Higher Education.’ The BRIDGE project was set up to facilitate this and aims to help UK and Russian HE institutions develop joint programmes that lead to mutually recognised qualifications.
The project was sponsored by the Department for Education and Skills (England), and was supported by the National Training Foundation (RF).
The aims of the project:
To increase collaborative effort between Russian and UK universities using joint programmes leading to dual degrees or other mutually recognised academic qualifications.
To increase the awareness of the higher education systems in the two countries and to build the basis of future sustainable partnerships between collaborating institutions.
