About the new “iron curtain” between Russia and USA.

The painting was planned as a headliner of a large exhibition "My intimate America" - the United States in the eyes of Russian artists. Unfortunately, it have not been materialized (yet).

While our leaders create the illusion of the "iron curtain" between our countries, the famous clown Ronald McDonald remains the most recognizable symbol of food to children and adults both in the United States and Russia. Restaurants McDonald's are islands of America's image which was built in the eyes of Soviet people. The image of a fairy-tale country of dream, abundance and freedom. Where you can escape from the drab routine of unfinished communism. Traitors country which should not been once again spoken about. Country of sweet sexual secrets and of forbidden art. America remains in our hearts despite fading of freedom and democracy myths - such as we dreamed of her, as we imagined it in our innermost fantasies - with popcorn and jeans, cozy cafes and crazy teenagers, skyscrapers and road adventures .

ДОМ-МУЧИТЕЛЬ (Идеал)

У любого художника есть граница, разделительная линия между его личным ощущением жизни и тем, что он изображает в своем творчестве. У одних эти вещи разнесены очень сильно, у других – между творчеством и реальной личностью идет постоянная перекличка, есть художники, которые делают личные переживания основной темой своего искусства.

В картине «Дом-мучитель» я обнажила ту сторону своей жизни, в которой признаться очень страшно. Дело в том, что я считаю себя жертвой домашнего коммунального террора. Наличие детей вынуждает меня ежедневно тратить уйму времени на то, чтобы происходило элементарное функционирование того, что называется семьей – чтобы дети были накормлены, одеты, обуты, спали на чистых простынях, делали уроки. На то, чтобы восстановить порядок после их жизнедеятельности. 90 процентов моей энергии в течение последних 18 лет тратится на репродуктивный труд. До сих пор я чувствую себя рабыней дома, который терроризирует меня – грязью и тараканами, блохами и сбрендившими лампочками, отвалившейся плиткой и скоплениями пылевых клещей под плинтусами. Протечками и отваливающимися обоями, коротким замыканием и пожаром, крошками печенья под босыми ногами.

К этой картине должны были прилагаться очень красивые живописные этюды всевозможных неприкаянных и неприглядных углов, с которыми постоянно сталкивается хозяйка, впрочем, заставляя себя не рефлектировать по их поводу – ведь иначе можно рехнуться. Мутный тоннель унитаза, ободранные углы, засранные голубями откосы окон. Все это мыть, драить, мести. Неблагодарный черный труд, гора энергии, которую можно было направить как какую-нибудь творчески-научную самоактуализацию.

Картина «Дом-мучитель» - выражение комплекса ощущений, состоящего из безысходности, одиночества, монотонности существования, рвотного рефлекса, головокружения, истерии и сексуальной фрустрации, сопровождающего последствия «репродуктивного труда» в нашей социальной реальности. Необходимость ухода за детьми, отсутствие адекватных социальных гарантий и предательски аморальный нравственный фон, характеризующий Россию в фазе нео-либерализма, влекут за собой нищету, социальную изоляцию, доминирование низкооплачиваемого или вообще неоплачиваемого неквалифицированного труда, насилие, проституцию и другие виды женского рабства.

TORMENTOR-HOUSE (Ideal)

Any artist has a boundary, the dividing line between his personal sense of life and the fact that he portrays in his work. Sometimes these things are spaced very much. Sometimes there is a constant call-roll between the creativity and the real person. And we know artists who make personal experience the main theme of his art.

In the painting "Tormentor-house" I exposed a side of my life in which it is very scary to admit. The fact is that I consider myself to be a victim of domestic communal terror. Having children forces me to spend a lot of time every day on the elementary functioning of what is called a family – fitting and clothing children, sleeping on clean sheets, doing their lessons. In fact, to restore order after their vital activity. During last 18 years 90 per cent of my energy was spent on reproductive labor. Until now I feel like a slave of the house which terrorizes me – by filth and cockroaches, fleas and fading lights, tiles dumps and accumulations of dust mites under the baseboards. By leaks and torn wallpaper, by short circuit and fire, by cookie’s crumbs under bare feet.

This picture should be accompanied by a very picturesque sketches of dirty corners which constantly the hostess faces – incidentally, forcing herself not to reflect on them - because otherwise she can go mad. Footy tunnel toilet, ragged edges, window slopes made by pigeons. All this is to wash, to scrub, to revenge. Ungrateful black labor, mountain of energy that could be directed to a some creative and scientific self-actualization.

Painting "House-tormentor" is an expression of the complex sensations consisting of hopelessness, loneliness, monotony of existence, the gag reflex, vertigo, hysteria and sexual frustration which accompany a "reproductive labor" in our social reality. A need for child care, lack of adequate social guarantees and treacherously amoral moral background that characterizes a phase of neo-liberalism are reasons of a poverty, social exclusion, dominance of low-paid or even unpaid unskilled labor, violence, prostitution and other forms of female slavery.
