Изучение иностранного языка - нелегкое дело. Сегод­ня особенно важно знать иностранные языки. Некоторые люди изучают языки, потому что это необходимо для рабо­ты, другие - потому что много путешествуют, для осталь­ных это просто хобби. Все, кто знает иностранные языки, могут общаться с людьми из других стран, читать иност­ранных авторов в оригинале, что делает кругозор шире. Я учу английский язык. Это долгий и медленный процесс, который отнимает много времени и усилий. Более 300 миллионов человек говорят на нем, как на родном языке. Носители языка живут в Великобритании, Соединенных Штатах Америки, Австралии и Новой Зеландии. Англий­ский - официальный язык Организации Объединенных Наций и других политических организаций.

Английский язык прекрасен. Это язык великий лите­ратуры. Это язык Уильяма Шекспира, Чарлза Диккенса и

других. Половина научной литературы мира на анпий-ском языке. Это язык компьютерных технологий. Вели­кий немецкий поэт Гете однажды сказал: "Кто не знает иностранных языков - не знает и своего языка". Поэто­му, чтобы понимать себя и окружающих, необходимо изу­чать иностранные языки.

Я думаю, что знать английский сегодня необходимо каж­дому образованному человеку и хорошему специалисту.

The School I would Like

The school I would like would have a swimming pool. I'd have one for the first and second years and also the third and fourth years. The playgrounds would be separate, one for the young children and the other for the senior forms. A wall would be separating them and there would be a door from one playground to the other. The classrooms would have carpets instead of lino. The desks would be painted and the chairs would have cushions. The chairs would also be painted. There would be a computer for every table in the classroom. There would be at least videos for each classroom. The hall would be very big, about 40 metres long and 30 metres wide. The lessons would be interesting. There would be lots of French and German and English. There would be four floors at the school. There would be a lift to take us up.

The staffroomwould be much bigger than the one we have now. It would be light and cosy. There would also be a big library. There would be a lot of instruments: flutes, guitars, drums, etc. The school meals would have different food every day. There would be lots of visits to concerts and parks. The tests would be easier for children.

My Flat (1)

We have a nice flat in a new block of flats. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot water, a lift and a chute to carry rubbish down

There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat.

The living-room is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. In the middle of the room we have a square-table with six chairs round it. To the right of the dinner-table there is a wall-unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves. At the opposite wall there is a piano and stool before it. Between the two large windows there is a little table with a colour TV set on it. Near the TV set there are two cosy armchairs. A small round table, a divan-bed and a standard lamp are in the left-hand corner. This small table is for newspapers and magazines. My father is used to having a rest sitting on this divan-bed reading books, newspapers, magazines or watching TV.

The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and not so light as there is only one window in it. In this room there are two beds with a bedside-table between them. An alarm-clock and a small lamp with a pink lamp-shade are on the table. In the left-hand corner there is a dressing-table with a big mirror.. In this room we have a built-in wardrobe with coat-hangers to-hang clothes on. There is a thick carpet on the floor and plain light-brown curtains on the window.

The third room is my study. It is not large but very cosy. There isn't much furniture in it, only the most necessary. It has a writing-table and an armchair before it. In the right-hand corner there is a bookcase full of books, magazines and newspapers. A small table with a radio is standing in the left-hand corner. Near it there is a sofa with some cushions. In my opinion, the study is the best room in our flat. But the warmest place in our flat is the kitchen, I think — the place where the whole family gathers every evening not only to have supper together, but also to speak and rest. I like the English proverb: "My home is my castle" because my flat is, indeed, my castle.

Моя квартира (1)

У нас хорошая квартира в новом яногоквартнр-

ном доме. Наша квартира на четвертом этаже, в ней есть все современные удобства: центральное отопление, газ, электричество, холодная и горячая вода, лифт и мусо­ропровод.

В квартире три комнаты, кухня, ванная комната, при­хожая.

Гостиная - самая большая и удобная комната в квар­тире. В центре комнаты стоит квадратный обеденный стол и шесть стульев. Справа от стола стоит мебельная стенка. Она состоит из нескольких секций: серванта, шкафа, не­скольких полок. У противоположной стороны - пианино со стульчиком. Между двумя большими окнами находит­ся маленький столик с цветным телевизором. Около теле­визора два уютных кресла. В левом углу находится ма­ленький круглый столик, диван и торшер. Этот маленький столик предназначен для газет и журналов. Папа привык отдыхать, сидя на диване, читать книги, газеты, журналы или смотреть телевизор.

Спальня меньше по размеру, чем гостиная, и не такая светлая, потому что в ней только одно окно. В этой комна­те находятся две кровати и между ними тумбочка. На тумбочке стоит будильник и небольшая лампа с розовым абажуром. В левом углу - туалетный столик с большим зеркалом. В этой комнате есть встроенный шкаф с вешал­ками для одежды.

На полу лежит толстый ковер, а на окнах висят одно­тонные светло-коричневые шторы.

Третья комната - мой кабинет. Она небольшая, но очень уютная. В ней мало мебели, только самое необходи­мое. Здесь находится письменный стол с креслом. В пра­вом углу - книжный шкаф с книгами, журналами, газе­тами. Небольшой столик с радио стоит в левом углу. Воз­ле него находится диван с подушками. По-моему, этот ка­бинет - самая лучшая комната в нашей квартире.

Но самое теплое место в нашей квартире - это кухня, место, где вся семья собирается каждый вечер не только для того, чтобы поужинать вместе, но также и для того, чтобы поговорить и отдохнуть. Мне нравится английская

пословица: "Мой дом - моя крепость", потому что моя квартира - действительно, моя крепость.

My Flat (2)

Our house is a short walk from the trolleybus stop. We live in panel house on the fourth floor. Our flat has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, running cold and hot water, telephone, a lift and chute. Our flat consists of three rooms, kitchen, bainroon г and a hall.

First there is a small hall with a mirror and small table with a telephone on it.

The three rooms of our flat are: living-room, bedroom, my study. The floor is parquet in the rooms and linoleum in the kitchen. There is a thick carpet in the living-room on the floor. All the rooms are papered with wallpaper of a different pattern and colour.

The living-room is the* largest and most comfortable room in the flat. It's a large room with a balcony. In the middle of the room there is a table with some chairs around it. There is a sofa with two armchairs and low table with a TV-set on the left-hand side of the room. On the right-hand side there is a cupboard. There is a bookcase near it.

The bedroom is smaller and not so light. There are two beds, a wardrobe, a dressing-table.

The room I like best is my study. It is nice and cosy. It has a bed, a desk and an armchair. In the right-hand corner there is a bookcase full of books, magazins, newspapers.

The kitchen is handily arranged: there is a gas-stove, a frig, a deep sink, built-in cupboards and a table that folds against the wall when not in use.

I like our flat very much.

Наш дом расположен недалеко от троллейбусной оста­новки. Мы живем в панельном доме на четвертом этаже. В нашей квартире есть все современные удобства: цент­ральное отопление, газ, электричество, горячая и холодная вода, телефон, лифт, мусоропровод. Наша квартира состоит из трех комнат, кухни, ванной и холла.

В квартире есть маленький холл с зеркалом, телефоном на маленьком столике.

Наша квартира состоит из гостиной, спальни и моей комнаты. В комнатах - - пол паркетный, а в кухне -линолеум. В гостиной на полу лежит толстый ковер. Все комнаты оклеены обоями разных цветов и рисунков.

Гостиная - самая просторная и удобная комната во всей квартире. Это - широкая комната с балконами. По­середине комнаты стоит стол с несколькими стульями вокруг него. В комнате есть диван, два кресла и с левой стороны

телевизор на подставке. С правой стороны комнаты распо­ложен шкаф, рядом - книжная полка.

Комната, которая мне нравится больше всего, - моя комната. Она милая и удобная. Там есть кровать, пись­менный стол и кресло. В правом углу - этажерка, полная книг, журналов, газет.

Кухня удобно оборудована: здесь есть газовая плита, холодильник, глубокая раковина, встроенные шкафы, стол, который можно складывать, когда им не пользуются.

Мне очень нравится наша квартира.

My Week-day (1)[M1]

I get up at a quarter to seven. I jump out of switch on

The radio and do my morning exercises to the radio music. Then I go to the bathroom, wash myself and clean my teeth with a tooth-brush. This does not take me much time, not more than ten or fifteen minutes. Then I dress and sit down to table to have my breakfast. I usually have a cup of tea or coffee, an egg and bread and butter.

After breakfast I go to the technical school. As I live far away, I go by bus or by metro. It takes me more time to go by bus. If I have little time, I go by metro. My lessons begin at 9 o'clock. We have six lessons every day. At a quarter to one we have a lunch hour.

As I cannot get home for lunch, I take it at the dining-room of our technical school.

For lunch I have meat or fish with potatoes and a cup of strong tea or coffee with a pie. At ten minutes to three the lessons are over, and I go home. When I get home from the technical school, I have dinner. My dinner usually consists of three courses.

For the first course I have some soup, then some meat or fish. For dessert I have stewed fruit or ice-cream. Alter dinner I help my mother to wash up the dishes. Then I do my lessons. This usually takes me about two hours.

At eight or nine о clock I have supper. I have some salad, a slice of sausage and bread, sour milk or cereal.

In the evening I listen to the radio or watch TV. If the programme is not interesting, I go to the cinema or to the theatre. Sometimes, I go for a walk with my friends. We talk about different things and usually have a good time.

At 11 o'clock I go to bed.

Я встаю без пятнадцати минут семь. Я вскакиваю с кровати, включаю радио и делаю зарядку под музыку. За­тем я иду в ванную, умываюсь и чищу зубы.

На это у меня не уходит много времени, не больше чем 10-15 минут. Затем я одеваюсь и сажусь за стол завтра­кать. Обычно я на завтрак пью чай или кофе, ем яйцо и хлеб с маслом.

После завтрака я иду в техникум. Так как я живу дале­ко, то еду на автобусе или на метро. Чтобы доехать на авто­бусе, у меня уходит больше времени. Если у меня мало вре­мени, я еду на метро. Мои занятия начинаются в 9 часов. У нас каждый день шесть уроков. Без четверти час у нас обе­денный перерыв.

Второй завтрак я ем в столовой техникума, так как не могу для этого ехать домой.

Я ем мясо или рыбу с картофелем и выпиваю чашку крепкого чая или кофе с пирогом. Без десяти минут три заканчиваются уроки, и я еду домой. Когда я прихожу домой из техникума, я обедаю. Мой обед дома обычно со­стоит из трех блюд.

На первое я ем немного супа, затем мясо или рыбу. На десерт я пью компот или ем мороженое. После обеда я помогаю маме вымыть посуду. Затем я делаю уроки. На это у меня обычно уходит около двух часов.

В восемь или девять часов вечера я ужинаю. На ужин я ем салат, кусочек колбасы с хлебом, кислое молоко или кашу.

Вечером я слушаю радио или смотрю телевизор. Если программа неинтересная, я иду в кино или в театр. Иногда я иду погулять с друзьями. Мы о многом разговариваем и хорошо проводим время.

Я ложусь спать в 11 часов.

My week-days didn't differ much one from another I

went to school six days a week. That's why, I had to wake up at 7 o'clock every morning. Sometimes I wanted to stay in bed for some more time but my mother always insisted on my getting up. I put on my bathrobe and slip and unwillingly went to the bathroom. A cold shower made me feel not so sleepy, then I dried myself on a towel and hurried to the bedroom. I switched on a TV-set, it was just the time for a cartoon. You may ask me why I didn't do my morning exercises. From time to time, when I saw smiling slim girls on TV briskly doing their exercises to music, I swore I should get up earlier and do my morning exercises every day, but it didn't last long and soon 1 forgot about it.

Then I did my bed, dressed myself and had my breakfast. At a quarter to eight I rushed to school, it usually took me 10 minutes to get there. My classes began at 8 o'clock, and every day I had seven or eight lessons.

At 3 o'clock the classes were over, and I went home. After dinner, I did some work about the house (washed dishes, swept the floor, went shopping) and sat down to my lessons, I spent a great deal of time on them. At 8 o'clock all my textbooks and notebooks were put into bag, and I could watch TV or read a book, look through papers and magazines. Sometimes, when my friend called for me we went for a walk. At eleven o'clock, tired after a long working day, I went to bed and in some minutes fell asleep.

Иногда я хо­тел немного полежать, но моя мама всегда настаивала на том, чтобы я встал. Я надевал банный халат и тапочки и неохотно шел в ванную. Холодный душ помогал мне из­бавиться от сонливости, затем я вытирался полотенцем и спешил в спальню. Я включал телевизор, как раз в это время начинался мультфильм. Вы можете спросить, поче­му я не делал утреннюю зарядку. Временами, когда я ви­дел улыбающихся худеньких девушек по телевизору, ожив­ленно делающих зарядку, я клялся, что буду вставать рань­ше и делать зарядку каждый день. Но это продолжалось недолго, и я вскоре забывал об этом.

Затем я убирал кровать, одевался и завтракал. Без чет­верти восемь я спешил в школу. Обычно на это у меня уходило 10 минут. Мои занятия начинались в 8 часов, и у меня было каждый день по 7-8 уроков.

В 3 часа занятия заканчивались, и я шел домой. После обеда я делал работу по дому (мыл посуду, подметал, ходил в магазин) и садился за уроки. Я тратил на них много времени. В восемь часов вечера все мои учебники и тетра­ди были в портфеле, и я мог посмотреть телевизор или почитать книгу, просмотреть газеты и журналы. Иногда, когда ко мне заходил друг, мы шли гулять. В 11 часов, уставший после долгого учебного дня, я ложился спать и через несколько минут засыпал.

My Week-day (3)

I am very busy on my week-days. My week-days do not differ much one from another.

On week-days my working day begins early in the morning. My school starts at 8 o'clock, so I have to get up at 7, to be ready in time. I never wake up myself, my mother always wakes me up.

Sometimes I do my morning exercises, then I rush to the bathroom. I clean my teeth, wash my face. The cold water makes me feel not so sleepy. Then I go back to my room, make the bed. I switch on my radio, usually I listen to radio. I put on my clothes, comb my hair, put a little make-ups. By that time my breakfast is ready (my mother cooks it for me).

At a quarter to eight I grab my bag and rush to my school. My school starts at 8 o'clock and I don't like to be late.

Usually I have six or seven lessons a day, it lasts till 3 o'clock. After each lesson there is a break, so I can talk to my friends or eat my sandwich. When school is over I go home. First of all I need to walk my dog. Then I have my dinner and a little rest.

The teachers give us a lot of homework, so I start doing it about 16.30 or 17.00. As a rule it takes me two or three hours to do my home assignments.

My parents get home about six o'clock. We watch soap-opera on TV, have supper together. We share all the news, I tell about the lessons and school.

After it, I help my mother to do some work about the house - wash dishes, sweep the floor, clean the room.

Twice a week in evenings I go play tennis. When I do not go to play tennis, I stay home and watch TV, listen to the music, read magazines. Sometimes my friends call me and we go for a walk.

At eleven o'clock tired after a long working day I go to bed and fall asleep.

Иногда я делаю утреннюю зарядку, а после нее мчусь в ванную. Я чищу зубы, умываю лицо. От колодной воды я чувствую себя не такой сонной. Затем я возвращаюсь в свою комнату и застилаю постель. Иногда звонят мои друзья, и мы идем гулять.

В одиннадцать часов вечера, уставшая после долгого трудового дня, я ложусь в постель и засыпаю.

My Week-day (4)

As soon as I wake up I open the bedroom window and breathe in some fresh air. Then I go to have a shower. I start with a warm shower and then I turn the water onto cold and for a few seconds I have a really cold shower and let the water run over me. It really wakes you up.

After that I do a few exercises. I think it's really-important to do this, because it makes your body feel good and keep the muscles firm. I usually exercise my stomach muscles and my leg muscles. Then I go and have my breakfast. I really believe that it's important to have a really good breakfast. I don't think you should just have a cup of tea, like most of the girls do. Anyway, I have orange juice, an egg and some biscuits.

After breakfast I go to work. I work as a model, so I like my job, because it's very interesting and I travel a lot. I usually go to work by taxi. It's starts at about 10 o'clock. I work for about 5 hours with the photographer and he takes a lot of pictures. Such pictures are used in women's weekly magazines. I finish work about four, so you can see that I only work from about 10 till 4 and then I go home. At home I have a bath, change my clothes and watch TV. Every night I ■ usually go out. I can't cook very well, so I like to eat out.

Well, you can"see that I have a good life and I have a good wages when you think about the number of hours I work.

Проснувшись, я открываю окно в спальне и дышу све­жим воздухом. Потом я иду принимать душ. Я начинаю с теплой воды, затем включаю холодную и несколько се­кунд принимаю по-настоящему холодный душ под струя­ми, обдающими все тело. Это действительно бодрит.

Потом я делаю зарядку. Думаю, что заниматься этим очень важно, так как это помогает телу лучше чувствовать себя и развивает мышцы. Обычно я тренирую пресс и мыш­цы ног. Потом я иду завтракать. Я знаю, как важно хоро­шо позавтракать. Не думаю, что можно ограничиться чаш­кой кофе, как это делают многие девушки. Как бы то ни было, у меня на завтрак апельсиновый сок, яйцо и не­сколько пирожных.

После завтрака я иду на работу. Я работаю моделью и люблю свою работу, потому что она очень интересная и я много путешествую. Обычно я езжу на работу на такси. Рабочий день начинается около 10 часов. Я работаю око­ло пяти часов с фотографом, и он делает много снимков. Я заканчиваю работу в 4 часа, то есть, как видите, я работаю с 10 до 4, а потом иду домой. Дома я принимаю душ, переодеваюсь и смотрю телевизор. Каждый вечер обычно гуляю. Я не умею хорошо готовить, поэтому мне нравится есть вне дома.

My Day off (1)

When a school-girl I always envied those students who went to school five but not six days a week, as we did. So you may guess, I had the only day off - Sunday. On Sunday, I didn't have to hurry anywhere, that's why, I got up at nine or

ten o'clock. I wasn't an early riser. I did my bed, washed myself and went to the kitchen. In the kitchen the table had already been laid and I always had something tasty on Sunday: fried potatoes, meat salad or my favourite apple-pies.

After breakfast, if the weather was sunny, I usually didn't stay indoors, I went to see my friends. We often played volley­ball or basket-ball in the yard and in winter if there was much snow out-of-doors we went skating and skiing in the woods.

But sometimes the day happened to be rainy and gloomy. I preferred to be in watching TV listening to music, reading books, speaking over the phone or just lying on the sofa idling away the time. Some of my classmates could watch all TV-programmes from morning till night, but I think it's rather boring, and I always felt sorry for those TV-addicts. It's much more interesting to play a game of chess with your grandfather, or help your mother about the house, or argue with your father about the latest events at home and abroad.

In the evening, when all the family were together, we had some tea with a cake or biscuits, we listened to my younger sister playing the piano, sometimes we sang folk songs.

Every Sunday, when I went to bed, I was thinking that the day had flashed past and the next week would bring new problems and their solution.

Иногда случалось, что дни были дождливыми и мрач­ными. Я предпочитала сидеть дома: смотреть телевизор, слушать музыку, читать книги, раз говаривать по телефону или просто лежать на диване и тратить попусту время. Некоторые мои одноклассники могли смотреть все телепе­редачи с утра до вечера. думаю, что это очень утоми­тельно, и мне всегда было жаль телеманов. My Daysoff (2)

I go to school five days a week, so I have two days off -Saturday and Sunday (I'm lucky, because some other pupils have the only one day off). During the week I am very busy, so I like to have a rest on weekend.

I am not an early riser and it is a rare Saturday or Sunday when I get up before 9 o'clock. I enjoy staying in bed, when

1 don't have to hurry anywhere.

We have late breakfast at 10 and watch TV. Usually we have something tasty: meat salad, fried potatoes, chicken, cake or pie.

If the weather is fine, I usually do not stay indoors, I and my dog go outside. Often we go to the park and play there. If the weather is rainy and gloomy, I stay at home and watch TV, listen to the music, read the books.

After dinner we go visit our grandparents or relatives, or

just simply take a nap. Sometimes when my friends call me we go roller - blading near the Opera theatre I like roller -blading very much, I think it is a lot of fun. "

In the evenings I like to watch video and music programs. There is a big armchair in my room right beside the lamp with blue shade. If it is cold I like to sit there with cup of coffee and read.

Sometimes I do something special on weekends: go to an art exhibition, to the theatre, to the consert.

I always go to bed late on Sundays, and Monday morning is the nastiest thing through all the week.

I like weekends very much, because I can rest and gain some energy for the next week.

После обеда мы идем проведать наших бабушку и де­душку или родственников, или просто дремлем. Иногда, когда мои друзья звонят мне, мы идем кататься на роли­ках к оперному театру. Мне очень нравится кататься на роликах, я думаю, что это очень весело.

По вечерам я люблю смотреть видеофильмы и музы­кальные передачи. В моей комнате стоит большое кресло прямо рядом с лампой с голубым абажуром. Если на ули це холодно, я люблю сидеть в этом кресле с чашечкой кофе и читать.

Иногда я делаю что-нибудь особенное по выходным. посещаю художественные выставки, хожу в театр или на концерт.

В воскресенье я всегда ложусь спать поздно, и утро в понедельник - самое противное утро всей недели.

Я очень люблю выходные, потому что я могу отдохнуть и набраться энергии на следующую неделю.

When we have time for leisure, we usually need something that can interest and amuse us. There are several ways to do this. In big cities it's often difficult to decide where to go in the evening. If we want to go out there are a lot of theatres, cinemas and clubs in our country where we can spend our free time. (But in small towns and villages they have no actors of their own. So they invite a group of actors from a big town to show plays.) People who are fond of music join a musical section where they are taught to play different instruments. Those who like to dance join a dancing section. People who are interested in sports can join sport sections such as tennis, basket-boll, chess and others.

And, of course, all the people use radio or television. They switch on the radio set or TV set and choose the programme they like best of all. People who are interested in sports listen to or watch football and basket-ball matches. Everyone likes to see skating and dancing on the ice. Some people like musik. They listen to concerts of modern and old music, new and old songs and see dances. Television helps us to "visit" different lands, see fish and insects, lakes, rivers and seas. We are shown different countries, cities and people who live there. On TV people could even see both sides of the Moon. Radio and television extend our knowledge about the world. All that we can do at home. So I think, that ways in which leisure time can be spent are different and interesting!

My Daily Routine

As a rule, I get up at half past six. I put on my dressing-

gown, go into bathroom and turn on the bath taps. Good health is better than wealth, so I do my morning exercises. I get breakfast at seven-thirty and listen to the news over the radio. I like to begin the day well, so my breakfast is always a good one. For breakfast I usually have hard-boiled eggs or an omelette, bread and butter, tea or coffee; I read my newspaper with my last cup of coffee before I leave home.

Then, I say "Good-bye" to my mother, take my school-bag and go to school. don't live far from my school, so it doesn't take me long to get there.

The lessons start at half past eight. Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes. The classes are over at two o'clock. I come back home, have dinner, wash up and go shopping. I buy food­stuffs for the family. Coming back. I begin to clean the house and get the vegetables ready supper. We have supper at seven.

I do my homework for the next day. It usually takes me several hours to prepare well for the lessons.

In the evening, I always try to spend at least an hour at the piano. As a rule my parents and I sit and talk, watch a film on TV, read newspapers and magazines. Sometimes, we go to the cinema or to the theatre. Once or twice a month, I visit exhibitions in my home town.

I go to bed at about eleven o'clock, but my parents like to sit up late and write letters or read.

Занятия начинаются в половине девятого. Каждый урок длится 45 минут. В два часа дня занятия заканчиваются. Я прихожу домой, обедаю, мою посуду и иду в магазин, где покупаю продукты для семьи. Придя домой, я начинаю убирать и готовить овощи на ужин. Ужинаем мы в семь часов.

Я делаю домашнее задание на следующий день. Обыч­но у меня уходит несколько часов на то, чтобы хорошо подготовиться к урокам.

My HouseholdDuties (1)

This is my last year at school, and I work hard to pass my final exams successfully. As I am very busy, I can't help my parents much in keeping the house. But still I have some household duties.

Every day I do room and my Ded, wash up dish ss, dust the furniture and usually go to the baker's after I have dinner. I buy some brown and white bread, biscuits and cakes the The shop is not far from our house and it doesn't take me long to do everyday shopping.

Once a v/eek I help my mother to do all other work about the house. We wash our linen, iron and mend it, clean the flat. We beat the dust out of the carpets, vacuum the floors and polish them. It's not difficult to keep the flat tidy if you do your rooms regularly. This is my usual round of duties.

But sometimes I have some other things to do. When my mother is ill or away from home, I do the cooking and the washing up, the buying of food and the planning of meals. I am not a good cook, but my vegetable soup'is always tasty. I can also boil an egg or fry some meat. I also lay the table and clear away the dishes. If I'm too busy or can't do these things, all the duties are organized among other members of our family.

Sometimes I have to visit everyday services: hairdresser's, shoemaker's, tailor's, dry-cleaner's, photographer's. At the hairdresser's I have my hair cut and waved. At the shoemaker's I have my shoes and boots repaired, at the photographer's I have my photos taken. Service is generally good, but in some cases it leaves much to be desired,

My brother has his own duties at home. He helps to fix and repair some things. For example, he repairs electrical appliances when they are out of order. He has already repaired our mother's electric iron, my desk lamp and his own shaver., t year I was at my grandparents. They are elderly people and need care and attention. During my stay there, I swept the floors and washed them, fed the chickens, collected the eggs and weeded the vegetable-beds. I don't know how to

milk the cow but I helped to feed the other animals: lambs, sheep and pigs. I enjoyed this work very much.
