The end of school is the start of our independent life and the beginning of the most serious examination we have passed. In order to do well at this examination it is necessary to choose the right road in life which will help us best to live and work for own good and for the benefit of our country.
Many broad ways will open before the pupils when they leave a secondary school. Everybody will have a chance to develop and use knowledge and education received during the school years. There are a lot of different trades and professions, and each one must choose the occupation in which he or she can best develop one's own talent and abilities.
Nowadays the profession of an economist has become one the most useful, modern and interesting. That is because our country is moving towards market economy and different forms of property are being established.
An economist exercises different functions. He or she can determine the structure of an enterprise and calculate costs as well as probable profits. An economist analyses the condition of the market and prospects for its development in the future. His or her practical use of electronic computers is a must.
Having a good command of the economic situation in the region and the demands of the market a person with an economist's diploma may establish his own business, or he may become a partner of a joint venture.

I have always wanted to be at the top of the pyramid of people’s importance. This is why I crave for fulfilling myself through becoming somebody who takes the reigns over financial affairs of different kinds. In other words, I want to be a businessman.
Before making such a significant decision, I tried to weigh all pros and cons that are inherent in the occupation of my interest. First and foremost, I comprehend the fact that being a businessman is not simple at all. On the contrary, it is a tough and time-consuming job that would not ever let me relax.
However, a huge advantage of being occupied in that area is that by applying my agile mind I would make a lot of money. Secondly, I would be a highly respected person which gives me a serious incentive to accomplish any tasks in order to make my dream come true.

OUTSTANDING EVENTS
Ex.1: Make up the summary of the text:
There were many outstanding events in the history of Great Britain. Many different tribes tried to control the territory of Britain. England was added to the Roman Empire in 43 A.D. Roman invasion played a very important role in the history of the country. The Romans built the first roads in the country, dug the first walls. The Romans, who were great architects, constructed the first towns in Britain.
But the Normans influenced the British civilization most of all. They came in 1066 under the leadership of William the Conqueror. As the invaders spoke French, their speech influenced the English language.
Once the British had to face the French in 1805 at the battle of Trafalgar. Then Admiral Nelson won a great victory over the French fleet. In order to commemorate this event the monument to Admiral Nelson was erected on this square.
In the 18th century technological and commercial innovation led to the Industrial Revolution. The 13 North American Colonies were lost, but replaced by colonies in Canada and India.
LESSON 52.
FAMOUS PEOPLE
Ex.1: Make up the summary of the text:
Charles Darwin (1809—1882)
A hundred years ago people believed that plants and animals had always been as they are now. They thought that all the different sorts of living things, including men and women, were put in this world by some mysterious power a few thousand years ago.
It was Charles Darwin, born at Shrewsbury on the 12th of February, 1809, who showed that this was just a legend. As a boy Darwin loved to walk in the countryside, collecting insects, flowers and minerals. He liked to watch his elder brother making chemical experiments. These hobbies interested him imuch more than Greek and Latin, which were his main subjects at school.
His father, a doctor, sent Charles to Edinburgh University to study medicine. But Charles did not like this. He spent a lot of time with a zoologist friend, watching birds and other animals, and collecting insects in the countryside. Then his father sent him to Cambridge to be trained as a parson. But Darwin didn't want to be a doctor or a parson. He wanted to be a biologist.
In 1831 he set sail in the Beagle for South America to make maps of the coastline there. Darwin went in the ship to see the animals and plants of other lands. On his voyage round the world he looked carefully at thousands of living things in the sea and on land and came to very important conclusions.
